SELECT PROJECT
EXPERIENCE
Dominion Cove Point
LNG Storage Facility, Lusby, MD: Assessed and
recommended upgrades to current cathodic protection on
existing LNG storage tanks, transmission lines, plant
air lines and a metal underwater tunnel spanning from
the shoreline storage facility to the supertanker
unloading platform (located 1 mile offshore in the
Chesapeake Bay)
PSEG Power
Connecticut, Bridgeport, CT: Performed annual inspection
on cathodic protection system protecting steel piles and
dolphins for coal and oil unloading docks. Performed annual inspection on traveling screens
at plant. Rectifier was inspected, adjusted and
interrupted to assure optimum CP on the
traveling screens. Individual anode outputs and
reference electrodes were tested for problems and
efficiency.
US Coast Guard Ocean
Terminal, Bayonne, NJ: Conducted stray current
analysis for the US Coast Guard Military Ocean Terminal
due to the accelerated corrosion detected on the small
buoy tending boats docked along the floating V-Berth.
Naval Air Station
Oceana, Virginia Beach, VA: Energized and tested cathodic protection of aviation fuel tanks. Trained
Navy representative on CP theory and maintenance.
Parking Garage
Investigation, Pittsburgh, PA: Conducted
testing in areas where concrete was spalling in
association with corroded rebar. This included the
visual inspection, rebar to concrete potentials,
ultrasonic rebar thickness tests, mapping of flawed
areas and summary documentation.
Mass Highway,
Quincy, MA: Performed post acceptance tests and annual
inspections on the impressed current cathodic protection
system protecting the Lift Towers, Fender Dolphins and
Approach Piers on the Fore River Bridge. Troubleshot six
rectifiers due to problems from vibrations of bridge
traffic.
Gordon Terminal
Services Company, McKees Rocks, PA: Performed
annual operation inspection on cathodic protection of
barge docking system and the 8¨ jet fuel line from dock
at Ohio River to the Pittsburgh International
Airport. Inspection included rectifier inspection,
adjustments, pipe-to-soil potential survey, flange
isolation effectiveness and troubleshooting groundbed
problems.
FP&L Energy,
Yarmouth, ME: Conducted cathodic protection survey on
the condenser waterboxes, traveling screens and heat
exchangers. The constant potential rectifiers were
tested, evaluated, troubleshot and repaired before
measuring the structure to salt water potentials.
Allegheny Energy,
Lebanon, PA: Performed post-installation acceptance
testing of CP system protecting yard piping at power
plant. Based on recommendations while on-site,
developed and presented designs for repairs and upgrade
work. Coordinated installation support services.
Delivered final post installation acceptance testing
report after site met criteria for cathodic protection.
Florida Power &
Light Markus Hook Power and Steam Plant, Markus Hook,
PA: Performed inspection and start up of cathodic protection system for proper installation on CP
to the main condenser water box. Inspected wiring and
components of cathodic protection system. Energized
rectifiers, and adjusted automatic potential control
rectifiers, and checked structure-to-water potentials and individual
anode output to assure optimum CP inside water box.
Buckeye Pipe Line
Company, Coraopolis, PA: Designed and maintained cathodic protection systems on petroleum pipeline and
petroleum storage tanks. Conducted external corrosion
direct assessment by means of smart pigging,
non-destructive testing and close interval surveys.
Facilitated training for technicians and maintenance
personnel. Performed both external corrosion direct
assessment and in-line tool integrity assessment.
Conducted in-depth examinations including; indirect
examinations with CIS potential surveys and resistivity
surveys, direct examination by means of; excavation and
inspection, coating evaluation, corrosion measurements
and anomaly assessment, dent evaluations and gouge
analysis. Additional experience with the documentation,
data analysis, failure analysis and post analysis
recommendations for the following operations: smart pig
operations, hydrostatic water testing, and ultrasonic
thickness testing.
Groton Naval Base,
Groton, CT: Performed post installation acceptance
testing and annual inspection of cathodic protection
systems protecting marine structures at facility. For
new construction, provided site supervision during
installation, and post installation acceptance and final
testing. Conducted cathodic protection training for
personnel.
Cytec Industries,
Wallingford, CT: Performed annual survey on an impressed
current system that protects a 20¨ water well
pipeline. Troubleshot and repaired rectifier on the
water well system. Delivered final post installation
acceptance testing report after the site met criteria
for cathodic protection. Performed field testing and
evaluation of passive cathodic protection systems on
underground storage tanks. Designed an impressed current cathodic
protection system to be installed on underground storage tanks.
Conducted cathodic protection training
for client personnel.
Sithe Independence
Power Company, Oswego, NY: Performed annual survey of passive cathodic protection system protecting the yard piping
inside the power plant. Performed annual survey on
impressed current system that is protecting condenser
water boxes inside the power plant. Tested and adjusted
outputs on 12 rectifiers that were protecting the
condenser water boxes.
City of Grand Forks,
ND: Conducted structure to water survey on six softening
basins and one stabilizing basin. Troubleshot seven
constant potential rectifiers, made repairs and
potential adjustments to meet cathodic protection
criteria on the basins. Conducted annual cathodic
protection survey on 30¨ raw water intake and
transmission lines. Tested and adjusted output of
rectifier.
Norfolk Naval Base,
VA: Performed annual survey of impressed current systems
on fuel storage tanks at naval base. Prepared and
delivered final report detailing conclusions and
recommendations.
Virginia Truck
Depot, Toms Brook, VA: Performed annual survey on impressed current
system that protects the piping and aboveground storage
tanks to fueling area. Performed non-destructive
testing for verification of the tank floor thickness and
coating thickness. Prepared and delivered final report
with recommendations and conclusions after site met
criteria for cathodic protection.
